Teaching Position Needs

Currently we have many opportunities for people to assist in the education of our young children at Valley Christian Church. Please be in prayer for all of these openings and let me know if your heart has been touched to serve in any of these opportunities.

Substitute Coordinator: In an effort to have consistency within classrooms and to help me out, the elders have agreed to open this assisting position. This person would be in charge of finding and coordinating substitute teachers for Sunday School, Junior Church and Pioneer Clubs. This person should be available also on most Sundays and Wednesday evenings in the case of an emergency need to fill in.

Sunday School: We have a need for a teacher & assistant for the 5th grade class for July & August. This is a very small class (3-4 kids). All classroom materials and curriculum are provided.

Junior Church: As we move around teachers within our ministries, we will have openings for teachers and assistants for both classes, PreK/K and Grades 1 & 2. Teachers and assistants work as a team on a rotation schedule for 2 weeks and then have 6 weeks off. Age appropriate curriculum is provided.

Vacation Bible School: We have many positions available from classroom teachers and assistants, recreation leaders, nursery workers and snack coordinators. VBS is July 19-23 6-8:30 pm

Pioneer Clubs: Pioneer Clubs will be coming back to VCC in October. Please be in prayer now if you are being called to serve in this ministry on Wed. evenings 6-7:30 pm.

If you are willing to work in any of these, please let me know.

God bless,
Heather Woodward

Fellowship Committee Notes

For those who are using the refrigerator for storing milk etc. It is important that all items be removed and the space not be used from now until after Dinner Theater as we will be needing all the space for supplies for those nights

Also, the fellowship committee will not be serving coffee during the summer months. If however, if any of you feel lead to make coffee and be responsible for cleaning up after and would like to do it on a rotating system feel free to work that out. As it is now, next Sunday will be the final Sunday of coffee and donuts.

Thank you all for your cooperation,

Alyce

Dinner Theatre Help Needed

Dinner Theatre is just about a month away (is that really possible?) and the drama team is rarin’ to go! We have had so much getting ready for this year’s production, and it’s awesome to see the pieces finally coming together… but there are still a few loose ends to be tied up!

Please see if the Lord might use you in one or more of these areas:

1. We need childcare for the nights of the dinner theatre, but only for the children of cast/crew (that basically means the Woodward boys, Noah, Justin, and Gracie). If you could help either of those two nights, please, please, please let me know! It will be much appreciated… and may even get you an extra piece of chocolate cream pie!

…which leads me to #2.

2. We need about 20 (yes… TWENTY) chocolate cream pies for EACH NIGHT…. that’s a total of 40 pies! Nothing fancy… frozen pie crusts and instant pudding filling will do. Please email Alyce if you can help with the pies. We’ll take care of the whipped cream on this end. :) There will also be a sign up sheet on the back table starting Sunday.

3. Lastly, and most importantly, we covet your prayers. There is so much to pray for! More than anything else, please pray for those who will come and see the dinner theatre, and hear a solid message about how Jesus died for them. Pray about who the Lord may be asking you to invite, and then remain in prayer for them right through the event. Please pray for the cast and crew… that sickness would stay away, that lines would be memorized. Please pray for decorations and scene settings to be finished, for costumes to come together, for the ability to present this drama with laughter and humor, but also with clarity. Above all, pray with us that our hearts would be to serve the Lord and see Him alone glorified. Please pray that everything we say and do, whether on stage or behind closed doors, would bring much honor to the amazing God that we love. If not for Him, we act in vain. Literally. :)

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light…” 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

If you spent any time at all with us at our Friday rehearsals, you would know just how peculiar we are… but our hearts’ desire is to show forth the praises of our Matchless Redeemer who has called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light! Don’t you know… He has put someone in your life that needs to hear that! Their life may be depending on it… so bring them on down to Uncle Phil’s and let’s see if we can’t share the good news with a community that so desperately needs to experience it! God bless you as we serve Him together!

Acting up for Jesus,

Heather C.

Sunbridge Nursing Home Singing, May 15 2009

UPDATE! THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED!

We will be meeting at Sunbridge Rehabilitation Center (I know it has a new name… but I can’t think of it right now) at 5:45 on Friday evening to sing with the residents. We will sing only until 6:30… so it’s a very short sacrifice of time, but it’s appreciated more than you know… not just by the residents, but also by your brothers and sisters in Christ who go to sing each month. ;-) The more the merrier… tis true. :)

Thanks!

Heather C.

Portland Homeless Mission May 17 2009

Dear Family,

This Sunday is the homeless mission to Portland. Though we have a lot of people going we are lacking in tote bags and things to fill the totes with. Please consider donating even one item. If each family donated just one small item (which price averages $2.00 at Wal-Mart) we would have well over 100 items to put in the bags. Would you please consider picking up something from the list below and dropping it at the church no later than Friday night. The youth will be taking all the items with them. And if you already have given thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts.

Here’s what we still need:

  • Granola bars
  • Cereal bars
  • Snacks
  • Pudding cups
  • Fruit cups
  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Bottled water
  • Cookies in small packages
  • Peanut butter crackers in small packages
  • Prepackage tuna & crackers
  • Or any small snack packages.

Thank you for all your donations, God bless you all,

Candy and Mark Allen
