Pastor Sean Simmonton preaches about the second coming from Revelation 19:11-21

11-26-11 sermon

Sunday December 4th First Sunday

LORD’S SUPPER
“POT FAITH / POTLUCK / FOOD FELLOWSHIP
YANKEE GIFT EXCHANGE

LAST SUNDAY WE TRUCKED 316 SHOEBOXES TO “OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD” DROPOFF CENTER IN LACONIA NH

What a blessing to be involved in coordinating the gathering and transfer of these valuable containers which will carry the message of God’s forgiving grace and unconditional love to children all over the world. Each shoebox contains life changing words that can change these young recipients lives, and those of their families and friends, for eternity. Please keep this vibrant and effective ministry in your prayers.
Many thanks to those who helped in receiving, packing, and carrying those boxes of love and hope toward their final destination of a child’s arms . . .and heart.

We will gather after worship this Sunday to “Deck The Hall”. . .

Please take a few moments to help in putting up decorations as we prepare for Advent.
Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming.” Christians of earlier generations spoke of “the advent of our Lord” and of “His second advent.” The first phrase refers to God’s becoming incarnate in Jesus of Nazareth. The latter phrase speaks of Jesus’ second coming. In a second sense “advent” designates a period before Christmas when Christians prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. This practice may have begun in some churches as early as the late fourth century. Advent began as a time of fasting. Sermons focused on the wonder of the Incarnation. By the Middle Ages four Sundays had become the standard length of the Advent season. Since then, Advent has been considered to be the beginning of the church year.

Pastor Johns teaches from 1 Timothy 6:17-19 about Satisfaction and Thanksgiving

11-20-11 sermon

Other scripture used: Ecclesiastes 4:6, James 4:1 Ecclesiastes 5:10, 2 Corinthians 4:18

Mineral Springs 11/18/2011 was a big success

What a great night. God is good all the time. So many smiling faces , including the residents. The activities director was in awe of how many of the residents came out. So many stay in their rooms and don’t socialize. But they were “shopping happy”. At the end of the evening one resident came to me to ask what she owed for all her “purchases”. I told her a hug was payment enough.

Hope everyone there was as blessed as I was. A BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELPING HANDS.

Serving HIM,

Fran

“CAN’T GET NO SATISFACTION …”

It’s difficult in our country, in this economy and in particular this time of year to be “satisfied.” The “Modus Operandi” for this time of year is to create an atmosphere and spirit of “I Want” and an amplified awareness of “I Need!.”
If you pick up the paper today , or this weekend … or check your mail daily (!), you’ll see evidence of the approaching holidays.
  • “After Halloween” closeouts are a bargain.
  • “Black Friday” is imminent . . . all the long anticipated one-day sales event (that we’ve known about for three-four weeks now) will be taking place on November 25th. Some stores will open at 12:00 AM on that day … and this year, we’re in for a special treat of being able to shop on Thanksgiving Day itself! That’s right … not just Kmart this year, but also many other major retailers. I believe Target among several others will be there with open doors to help you “save” and begin your “holidays!”
(Black Friday is now more recognized and anticipated than Thanksgiving … sad. Although still mentioned in the Sports Section for football schedules :O)
  • You’ve already received several pounds of Christmas catalogs, so you know that’s just around the corner . . .
What to do … what to buy . . . so much to do ,,, so much to buy ,,, so little time … so little money … what to do … (etc,)
See you Sunday . . . as we break open God’s word, and learn how to prepare for, celebrate and enjoy the upcoming Hol(y)idays!

November 13, 2011 Sermon DOnwload

Pastor John teaches from 2 Corinthians 1:8-10 about Loss as one of the times of our lives

11-13-11 sermon

Other scripture used – Matthew 5:4, Galatians 6:2, Hebrews 12:15, 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Have You Ever Read The “Lost & Found Columns?”

You know; that’s where someone has lost an item or pet which they value and are making a serious attempt to get it back . . . or someone has found an item or pet and believes it to have significant value or merit to warrant making a serious attempt to return it to the rightful owner. Unless you’ve been involved in such a search, you have no idea of the efforts or emotions involved in basically trying to return life to where it was before the loss.
Unfortunately, some of the “losses” in life can be more difficult to resolve than just by placing and ad in the paper or a poster on a fence post . . . what happens when the losses seem bigger than we are … when they are more than we think we can handle? Why does God allow that in our lives?
See you this Sunday morning when we talk about what God says we are to do in dealing with a loss . . . because there will be “The Times Of Our Lives” when we are faced with just that.
. . . See you this Sunday!
