Sunday December 4th First Sunday

LORD’S SUPPER
“POT FAITH / POTLUCK / FOOD FELLOWSHIP
YANKEE GIFT EXCHANGE

We will gather after worship this Sunday to “Deck The Hall”. . .

Please take a few moments to help in putting up decorations as we prepare for Advent.
Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, meaning “coming.” Christians of earlier generations spoke of “the advent of our Lord” and of “His second advent.” The first phrase refers to God’s becoming incarnate in Jesus of Nazareth. The latter phrase speaks of Jesus’ second coming. In a second sense “advent” designates a period before Christmas when Christians prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth. This practice may have begun in some churches as early as the late fourth century. Advent began as a time of fasting. Sermons focused on the wonder of the Incarnation. By the Middle Ages four Sundays had become the standard length of the Advent season. Since then, Advent has been considered to be the beginning of the church year.

Mineral Springs 11/18/2011 was a big success

What a great night. God is good all the time. So many smiling faces , including the residents. The activities director was in awe of how many of the residents came out. So many stay in their rooms and don’t socialize. But they were “shopping happy”. At the end of the evening one resident came to me to ask what she owed for all her “purchases”. I told her a hug was payment enough.

Hope everyone there was as blessed as I was. A BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELPING HANDS.

Serving HIM,

Fran

NOVEMBER 6th … FIRST SUNDAY

DON’T FORGET . . . that on “First Sundays,” we celebrate the ordinance of The Lord’s Supper together as a family, followed by a fellowship/ pot luck/ pot faith celebration!

November’s “First Sunday” falls on the weekend of our “Ladies Retreat;” so I would ask that the men pick up the responsibility of preparing the food for the fellowship that Sunday afternoon. I’m thinking that the food will be incredibly awesome . . . we can do this !!!
