Secret Sister Mail Table

Ladies, If you need to contact you sister for prayer or messages and can not get to church for the “mail table” I would be more than happy to send the messages through.

I have had one sister contact me for this. She wanted prayer now. And waiting just wasn’t an option.

I know there is a way to set up accounts for e mail and not be known, But that is not my cup of tea.

So if you are in that boat with me . . . let me know what I can do to help.

Have a great day in the Lord.

Serving Him,

Fran

Secret Sister Reminder

Hello Sisters,

Just a reminder. Have you loved on your sister this month? Did she have a birthday or anniversary?

Are you praying for her (and family)?

Mr. Eland mentioned burdens this past Sunday. Here is something I have been reading I thought I would share with you:

From Everyday Blessings (a gift from a secret sis)

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the Law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

Have you seen the size of kids’ backpacks lately? Their backs sway with the weight of books, papers, and stuff. Kids carry these packs all day on their tired shoulders. Relief comes when they drop the weighty bags at home. The burdens you carry around each day may be causing your shoulders to droop, as well. Take those worries and burdens to God. He has promised to lighten your load by adding His shoulder to yours.

Ladies if you have burdens , you can ask your sister for prayer.

Have a great evening in the Lord.

Serving Him,
Fran

Secret Sister Information

Hello,

Okay I said I would keep in touch.

First, what do I do for my secret sister?

  1. Pray for her every day
  2. That she will be close to her heavenly Father
  3. Could see the Lord’s hand working in her life
  4. Would keep her safe
  5. Give her wisdom to make the right choices in her life

The term Secret Sister has more meaning than you realize: in fact, these women are our spiritual sisters. And as it is in physical families, so it in your church family. We have a responsibility to care for, pray for and seek blessings for our sisters.

The whole idea is not for you to receive a blessing but to be one.

So, I am in the process of putting together a binder of ideas. Some small and different and whatever. Please add to any time. Take anything to copy for your own use but do return for others to be able to copy and use.

I will also put a book Daily Blessings for my Secret Sister with the binder. Copy any of it for your use.

And one final thing. It has been brought to my attention that 2 packages on the table have no name tags. Please check. Remember to attach cards or name tags to the packages. Also that items on this table can be tempting for our children.

Have fun. Any questions or concerns call or e-mail me, 603-447-6744, farkle713@roadrunner.com.

In His Service,

Fran

Women's Ministry

Weekly meeting of Mom’s in Touch (a prayer group for local schools and students), monthly Women’s Ministry Meeting held the first Monday of each month at Valley Christian at 6:30 p.m.

Happy New Year to all the women at Valley Christian Church. It has come to our attention that many of you do not know what “ladies fellowship” is at VCC. Come to the next monthly women’s fellowship meeting (6:30 pm on Monday, February 7) and find out. You will get to know some of the women at VCC while we study God’s word, visit, and pray together, and find ways to serve God’s beloved daughters and sons at VCC, in the Valley, and beyond.

On the first Monday of each month all ladies at VCC are invited for a time of informal fellowship, a short devotion led by one of the ladies, and a service-centered activity. For example, in the past we have had devotions on prayer, the tongue, being more intimate with God, and the armor of God in relationships. We have written notes of encouragement, planned meals to take to the sick, and packed college care packages. We have laughed, sung, prayed, studied, and cried together. Come join us next month!

At the January 3rd fellowship meeting we studied Ephesians 6, how the “armor of God” passage is in the context of Paul’s instructions on relationships. We shared our thoughts and insights as to how God wants us to use his armor to fight the evil one who wants to destroy unity. We so often put up our own shields and breastplates, etc. to defend ourselves against criticism or difficult relationships rather than preparing to run by holding up our robes with the belt of truth and being ready with the gospel of peace (etc.). Let’s keep reminding each other to wear the armor of God instead of the armor of humans!

At our January 3rd meeting we also discussed what activities we would like to see occur in 2005. To start with, we are planning an evening “pamper ourselves”night in March, a Mothers’ Day brunch in May, helping with VBS meals in July, a September progressive dinner, a retreat in November, and a Christmas party in December. Many women have chosen to be a “secret sister” to someone during the year (see Jodi Evans for more information), and many women are planning other activities or service opportunities and inviting all who are interested to join them, such as shopping trips to Portland, visiting the Christian Book Distributors warehouse sale, and going to ladies’ brunches and retreats at other churches.

Join us in 2005 at our monthly Monday fellowships. And let’s continue to grow in our walk with God as we reach, teach, serve and send.

Marilyn and Joany
